Mrs Margaret Neale
Chair of Governors
Term of office:
Start date : 01/09/2015
End date : 31/08/2020
When did you first become a Governor at Penkford?
10th December 2014
What interested you in becoming a Governor at Penkford?
I have spent all my working life (38 years) involved in the education of young people, working in a number of secondary schools in the North West. In the last 10 years of my teaching career I was a Headteacher of a large Secondary School in Warrington. Becoming a Governor at Penkford School enables me to continue to be in a position to have an impact on education and positively influence children’s lives, so giving something back to the community within my own town of St Helens. Being a Governor at Penkford also enables me to put my professional skills to good use in a different context and sector of education as well as developing a range of new ones.
What do you enjoy most about your role as Governor?
I enjoy the challenge of thinking in new ways and working with new people as we work as a team to provide strategic leadership and accountability, supporting the work of the Headteacher and her team and challenging when the need arises. All of this is done with the ultimate aim of driving up standards and helping Penkford receive recognition as an Outstanding School.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I am very keen on running and keeping fit and can often be seen pounding the pavements in St Helens. I am also a Governor at Newton le Willows Primary School, a magistrate in North Cheshire, a member of ‘Rock Choir’ and have five grandchildren, all of which keeps me very busy, but grounded! I also love travelling whenever the opportunity arises.
