Newton Library Visit: 10 March 2017

Date: 26th Apr 2017 @ 9:13am

Some of our pupils paid a visit to our local library in Newton. It was a chance, not only to support the library, but also support their own literacy skills and love of reading for pleasure. Let's hope they found some good reads!

Our Art work

Here you can find a taste of how our young scientists learn and succeed in Science, and how we engage in practical learning. For more information about the Science programme of study, have a look at our Curriculum section.

Our Assemblies

Date: 6th Jan 2017 @ 12:44pm

Every week, we have a whole school assembly that promotes our pupil's social and cultural understanding, character education, and celebrates our achievements throughout the year.

Many different topics and issues have been presented. Just a few, for example, have included: Positive resolutions, Martin Luther King, Poetry workshop, Holocaust Memorial, Valuing differences, the General Election, and International Women's Day.

The assemblies have also treated our pupils and staff to performances of music, literature, and drama, such as YPDAAT and St Helens College's drama involving the dangers of drug use. But not all assemblies have such serious subject matter! Our KS2 pupils often treat us to uplifting muscal performances and we also have motivational visits, such as the freestyle footballer during our National Sports Week assembly.

At the end of every term, we hold a special Achievement Assembly, during which we celebrate all the great things that happen in Penkford and recognise individual and group success with awards and prizes. It's a great opportunity to reflect on the acomplishments of the past term, and look forward to the challenges of the next term.

Outdoor Education

Date: 5th Jan 2017 @ 4:01pm

Outdoor Education holds a vital place on our curriculum as part of personal development, pupil resilience and character education, as well as giving our pupils the chance to engage in social and cultural experiences. This is just a taste of what happens as part of daily life at Penkford.
